Do This And You’ll Be Welcome Anywhere

Today I came across a chapter “Do This And You’ll Be Welcome Anywhere” from Dale Carnegie’s book “How to make friends and influence people”. It was the book I always wanted to read. It is the reality of this universe that every person on this earth is interested in itself and not me, you or someone else. Therefore according to Dale Carnegie to become dear to everyone you must take interest in others. People like you not being interesting , rather they like you being interested. When you are interested in someone and show affection towards them, you yourself become interesting to them.

No one likes the person whose conversation always revolves around himself and doesn’t give chance to others while the person who is interested in knowing about others is always welcomed.

Interested Challenge

I was assigned with “Interested Challenge” which was not difficult for me as I have this habit of asking people about them. So, keeping in view this challenge I called my cousin, asked her about her health, studies and her future goals. She immediately replied, “are you fine, what’s wrong with you”. After not getting any satisfactory reply, I called my friend with whom I have not talked for one year. She was very happy that I always remember her. So, I realized that these small acts of kindness and gestures of interest in someone adds a lot to your well being as well. And according to Dale Carnegie you are welcomed everywhere. The purpose of our life is not to live for yourself but it is to live for others too.
